CURRENT CONDITIONS: All campsites and fishing access areas are open. Park office is closed on Wednesdays due to staff shortage. Some algae bloom. Weather has been Rocky Mountain wonderful. Some days weeds are worse than others. Beautiful mornings and days with regular late afternoon showers. Greenery prevails. NO FIRE BAN.

FISHING HAS NO BOUNDARIES CRAWFISH BOIL SATURDAY AUGUST 31 More than just a boil this weekend. Help us celebrate 30 years in business. FHNB will have BBQ with hot dogs, brats, hamburgers and pulled pork. Help us raise money for this very worthy organization that takes disabled kids fish. All welcomed.

11 MILE SPORTS, INC. 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SEASON. It’s time to celebrate and bite some heads and suck some tails as they say in New Orleans. Eleven Mile crawfish are not your average “mud bugs” as they are sometimes referred to. To be sure they are bottom feeders and eat whatever, they live in some seriously high altitude clean water. Not to brag but we have some New Orleans roots and 40 years of crawfish boiling experience here at the lake. With celebration in mind come see us on Saturdays in August about Noon to 2:00PM for an Eleven Mile Boil!! with all the fixins. Free and open to all while they last, one plate per person.

FISHING HAS NO BOUNDARIES: In the 30 years here we helped start the FHNB Colorado Springs chapter by donating the use of two Pontoons for their new program of taking disabled kids fishing. 11 Mile Marina hosted the event which grew to over 40 boats and outgrew the Eleven Mile State Park infrastructure a few years ago. Their annual event is now held at Pueblo State Park in September. The FHNB crew will be here on August 31 hosting the last crawfish boil with BBQ as a fundraiser for a very great organization. Live music with our old and dear friend Oakley who played at many a Pike tournament events which were an annual fundraiser for FHNB. Festivities start at Noon. Come one come all!

TROUT: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Best August we have seen. Trolling has been hit and miss with a couple days of very disappointed anglers. Next day they are doing great. As the Trout pics show we are killing it on tube jigs. 20 feet of water to the shoreline. Not just sundown. Bites have been sporadic through out the day but every one of those hogs are pack filled with crawfish, some still moving about. Other methods still doing well and many folks are doing great with Power Bait. Stop in for the up to the minute hot ticket.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO VERY POOR: A few being caught here and there. Try the Macks Wiggle Hootchie tipped with a Gulp maggot or corn ( just in) on back of a Dodger or Pop Gear. 15 to 40 feet out from North Shore in 50 to 60 feet of water.

NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Good bite continues and getting better. Lots of medium size 28 to 31 inches. Bigger ones on the prowl and starting to attack. Big Sticks, and spoons doing well. Work 6 to 18 feet Rocky Flats, Stoll Mountain, Howbert Point and Witchers Cove.

CRAWFISH: VERY GOOD: Most if not all big fish are just packed with crayfish. This is prime time season. Set traps at night with appropriate bait see full trap in morning. We have some great Pro Mar crab traps that we use and work really well. They hold a large number of the critters maximizing your night. Come taste our version of the most delicious crawfish in Colorado. See you Saturday.
