THE PARK IN OFF SEASON AND WINTER: Eleven Mile is a wonderful place to visit in the Fall and Winter. The Summer crowds become a memory and serenity sets in. The scenery and wildlife are most enjoyable and the fishing and catching are great. This October is starting off with spectacular weather and some pretty darn good catches.

Ice normally tends to arrive in coves and on the West end first. We generally don’t see much until mid to late November. It is rare to ice fish on Thanksgiving but it has happened. Look to early December if we are lucky. Last year saw Eleven Mile with pretty good ice compared to most places. We are getting our ice fishing offerings on the store floor. Stop in for a pre ice fishing chat. We have our Ice Lazers and Tiny Tots on display now. Only available at the Marina since we make them ourselves.

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

TROUT:GOOD: The bite is has been a little sporadic. A fair number of anglers are catching big fish. Mostly Cuttbows ranging 16” to 27”. Shore fishing has been productive through out the day with sunrise, mid morning and late afternoon good bets. Bait or lures your call both have done well. Boaters on the troll have done well long lining Taz Devils in a variety of different patterns. Look to # 55 Pink Panther and Y82 Canberra Killer as producers but trying different colors always surprises. Rapala’s have also done well.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR: No good reports beyond fish moving up river. Lots of red in the the river to be sure. Some fun to be had.

NORTHERN PIKE: VERY GOOD: Lots of great fish still being caught. Now is the time. Bites vary through out the day but late morning through most of the day have seen moments of greatness. You might even get an early morning one. No need to run West they are biting all over the lake. We like Howbert, Witchers Cove and East Bay. Sticks, spoons, streamer flies and tube jig have all produced. You might want to give the Rapala X-Rap a try in the Clown pattern size 8, 10 or 12. This is Eleven Mile Fall fantastic catching. One more trip?
